It is always fun to watch the stars play poker

Celebrities do their bit for social causes by hosting a number of charity events. One such event is the Celebrity Poker Tournament hosted by Minnesota Vikings star running back, Adrian Peterson. This is a charity event during the Super Bowl XLV weekend planned to be held annually. The proceeds of the tournament will benefit Adrian Peterson’s All Day Foundation which works to build a better future for underprivileged children. The Foundation supports several youth programs through prominent organizations like the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities and the Special Olympics Minnesota. The Texas City of Dallas will play host to the Super Bowl XLV on February 6, 2011. Prior to the Super Bowl XLV, a competitive poker tournament will be held on Feb 4, 2011, at the Southside Music Hall at Gilley’s, Dallas. The event begins with a reception at 4:30 pm local time followed by a silent auction at 4:45 pm while the poker tournament will begin at 5 pm. The whole program is expected to wrap up by 9:30 pm. The entry fee to the Poker tournament is $500, which includes drinks and a light dinner. Players will battle it out for prizes worth $25,000. Spectator tickets are available for $150 which gets the purchaser couple of drinks and a light dinner.

The poker tournament is likely to be a star-studded event right from the host to the participants. Phil Hellmuth, eleven times winner of the WSOP will serve as the host and heads the non-football list of attendees. Comedians Alex Reymundo and Anthony Thomas, radio personality Corby Davidson, rapper Bryan “Birdman” Williams, model, and actress Pilar Sanders along with American sportscaster Dale Hansen are also expected to participate in the tournament.

Julius Peppers, the Chicago Bears defensive end will also be playing at the poker tournament, though his presence depends on the outcome of the match between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. Along with Adrian Peterson, a few more of his teammates from the Minnesota Vikings including wide receiver Bernard Berrian and cornerback Antoine Winfield will be participating in the tournament. Wide receiver Roy Williams and running back Tashard Choice of Dallas Cowboys will be playing as also Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals. Running back of the Seattle Seahawks Justin Forsett, Washington Redskins offensive tackle Trent Williams and Charles Godfrey, Carolina Panthers safety are also expected to put in an appearance at the Celebrity Poker Tournament. Since the main aim of the celebrity poker tournament is to raise more money for charitable causes, there is also going to be a silent auction where a WSOP seat will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
