Prague Day 2
Today I did better than yesterday - I survived the satellite to the 2k event. With app. 220 participants and lots of rebuy and addons, there were 27 seats up for grabs.
This time, I was determined to play my best game, but I did not get a lot of hands, and out of the ones I did play, I lost about half. During the whole tournament, I was always just below the average chipstack. When we were down to 31, I had only 4 BB left, but there were a few players wth even lower stacks, so I kept playing very tight. In fact, I just folded the last 10 hands.
The bubble finally burst, when one player at my table had just enough chips to pay the Big Blind for the next hand, and at the table next to us a shortstacked player decided to push all-in with K5o, and ended up getting called (and beaten) by KJ. The guy at my table couldn't believe his luck.
At this point, I have to mention that the schedule for this event was not ideal at all. After qualifying, we had to run to get our tournament tickets, because the 2k event had already been under way for over one hour. Furthermore, Pokerstars was even offering a "last minute" satellite for the 10k main event on the same day when day 1b of the main tourney started. The winners of that one would have missed the entire day 1 and played at day 2, staring at level 11 - that does not make any sense at all!
Anyways, the 2k event started quite well for me. I took down a couple of small pots, until I had increase my initial 12.000 chipstack to app. 30.000 after 5 hours. That was well above average, but then I get QQ on the button. A player on the right raises, I reraise and the Small Blind, a crazy Russian fellow, called. The original raiser folded. Flop comes Q6c7c, the Russian checks and so do I. Turn is the 8c, he checks, I bet half the pot, he calls. Flop comes 4h, I make a big bet and the Russian pushes. I call with the set, and he shows A4o. Unbelievable!
I am shortstacked again, we are down to 85 players, and 47th place gets paid. I win and lose some smaller pots, and the I am down to 4 BB, with A9s in late position. I go all-in, and get one caller who has 99. No ace for me and I am out.
My next hope is the €500 satellite for the 10k highroller. The satellite starts on Sunday, 13th at 11h. Wish me luck!
